The chief end of mankind, according to the Westminster confession, is to glorify God and to enjoy Him. We teach and believe that the cheif means by which this can be accomplished is by the exaltation of Christ. Therefore, we are intentional in all that we say and do, to exalt Christ.
If exalting Christ is the means by which God is glorified, we teach that the expression of Christ by word and deed is the appropriate means by which this is achieved. Therefore, we are intentional in expressing Christ in all we say and do, primarily through the gospel.
We teach that the gospel is not only for the unsaved but also for the saved. Therefore, we are intentional about proclaiming the gospel to all. This means that we will make every effort to find ways where the gospel can be proclaimed, so that all who come under the proclaimation of the gospel may embrace Christ.
Having exalted, expressed and embraced Christ, we teach that the natural overflow of a Christ-centered church is that we will enjoy Christ. This is no different to a man who finds treasure and rejoices over it.
Christ is our treasure.
Because Christ is our treasure, we teach that the natural outflow is that we would edify one another out of love for one another by the gospel. Therefore, we encourage one another by speaking the gospel about Christ to each other.
Finally, since Christ is our joy, it is our longing to proclaim the gospel so that people will be saved as the Lord enables the lost to come to Him through faith. Therefore, we are intentional about proclaiming the gospel to all so that Christ will be their joy too.
